Curriculum

As an all-through Academy, Bede endeavours to provide a progressive, seamless and developmental curriculum for all students from Reception to Year 13.  Secondary Years Heads of Department and Primary Years Subject Leads work together to ensure that students read a high quality curriculum to ensure that subject knowledge, skills and extra-curricular experiences are developed thoroughly.

Students in all years receive a broad and balanced curriculum which prepares them for life in modern Britain.  A wide range of subjects enables students to acquire knowledge, understanding and skills in all aspects of education, including the humanities and linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technical, social, physical and artistic learning.

Primary Years

Phonics is taught from EYFS using Letters and Sounds.  Further information for parents about phonics and how this is used to teach reading can be found here.

Bede Academy use a range of reading schemes which include: Oxford Reading Tree, Project X, Songbirds, and Oxford Literacy Web. Cracking Comprehension from Rising Stars is also used to develop reading comprehension.

The teachers of Primary Years students are responsible for teaching all subjects.
