All students are encouraged to participate in at least one extracurricular activity. There is a large and exciting programme with a variety of regular activities on offer to students. The choice and diversity is enhanced by special events.
The opportunities and challenges include: courses in Arts, crafts and textiles, Academy Productions from “Oliver” to “Romeo and Juliet”, the Business Game, Converse, Chess club, Choirs, Dance club, Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, Engineering club, Fishing club, Orchestra – including wind band, Jazz band , Robotics club and many others. Sports activities on offer include; Hockey, Rugby, Netball, Basketball, Rowing, Fencing, Badminton, Cricket, Tennis, Athletics and many others.

Students have the chance to take part in exciting foreign study and sporting trips to Germany, France and Italy. There is also an opportunity to participate in an outward bound week at Ullswater. Together with the Academy’s sister schools in Emmanuel Schools Foundation, students are selected for annual ‘Lions’ rugby and ‘Pumas’ hockey tours, the Tall Ships Challenge and community work in South Africa. These unique opportunities, together with onsite extracurricular help build character through using time to develop skills and fitness.
