The Academy has a library on each site, well-stocked with resources. Students are given the opportunity to use the library during Literacy and English. Students may borrow books to read at home and, at Bede North, may use the library as a resource at lunch times.
Library and Information Services
The Library stocks a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books, including classic texts and “Quick Reads”. You can also borrow DVDs and have access to a range of newspapers, magazines and periodicals. There is a suite of computers in the Bede North library where you can conduct research and surf the web.
Accelerated Reader Programme
Students in Key Stage 3 are encouraged to read books from the Accelerated Reader Programme. This is a nationally recognised programme to help you select appropriate books for your reading age. We are continually adding to the stock of books; please take advantage of this excellent resource.
Any student at Bede North who wishes to remain at the Academy to do their homework in peace and quiet is welcome to attend Homework Club, which takes place in the Library each day at the end of the Academy day.
Ask a Question!
At Bede North we have a full time Library Manager. If you have a question that needs an answer, do not hesitate to ask the Library Manager or her team of Student Librarians. They are well trained and highly skilled at pointing you in the right direction to find the answer you are looking for.
If you wish to train to be a Student Librarian, or simply want to find out more about what is involved, see the Library Manager in the first instance.
