Dear parents, carers and all our students.

It has been a busy week with a number of challenges but I am immensely proud of the way that students, staff and parents have dealt with it. We are an exceptional community. In the challenging times ahead never forget this.

Today for the majority of students’ traditional ways of learning ended, not only at Bede Academy but for students, teachers, support staff and families around the country. However a new way of being a school, a community begins on Monday at 8:30am. Attached is a timetable that is offered as guidance for students working at home to follow.

Today in Tutor Reflections all students considered what it means to be a community, what it means to be part of Bede Academy. Even though the building may be shut for many; we the people (staff and students) are still here for each other. Instead of being together in classrooms we will be the other side of computer screens BUT we are still a group of people who care for each other. In that sense Bede Academy, the people, will not be closing!

We look forward to seeing all of our students online or in the academy (for children of critical workers) at 8:30 on Monday morning. We also have meals available for children in receipt of free schools meals at 12pm on Monday as well.

I hope that you all have a well deserved rest this weekend.

Andrew Thelwell
