Dear parent / carer,
As I shared with you on Tuesday, we are looking forward to seeing our whole community, our students and our staff return to the academy from the week commencing Monday 8 March. I know that this letter contains a lot of information but we want to share with you the plans that we are putting in place to support every student to return to us and re-engage with their teachers, classes and friends onsite. As I have already said to you this week our priority is to ensure that every student is safe, well supported and helped to return to their learning as quickly as possible.
Support for students
We are conscious that some students may feel anxious about their return to on-site teaching. Please could all parents take two minutes to complete this survey so that we can identify where targeted support is needed. Student Welfare Survey
Welcome back days (8-9 March). Full opening for all students from Wednesday 10th March
All students will return to the academy for testing and a welfare session on EITHER Monday 8th or Tuesday 9th March. Times are outlined in the table below. This will enable students to receive their first Lateral Flow Device Test, spend time with their tutor and prepare themselves for a full return to on-site learning. This is a compulsory session to enable a smooth return for all, and to ensure that students are fully supported at this time of transition. Further details about the testing programme are contained later in this letter.

Full return to onsite provision for all students will then begin on Wednesday 10th March (please see full details of this below). The Easter term ends on Thursday 25th March, the summer term begins on Monday 12 April.
On-site provision for children of Key Workers and vulnerable students
This provision will continue onsite all of next week and also on Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th, though students are expected to join their tutor groups for their allocated tutor session. Lessons will continue in Google Classrooms as usual, but there is an understanding that work will not be completed for the times when students are on site for their re-orientation.
Please note that as staff return to site next week and prepare for this re-opening it is likely that there will be fewer ‘live’ lessons streamed via Google Classrooms. However each lesson will continue to have work set and students should continue to follow their timetable to ensure work is completed before they return.
Below you will find an overview of our plans for:
- Arrangements for full academy days from 10th March onwards
- Students with coronavirus symptoms and asymptomatic testing arrangements
- Frequently Asked Questions.
I very much look forward to welcoming your child back to Bede very soon. If you have other questions at this stage, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
