Dear Parents and Carers

Firstly, I just want to pass on my congratulations to all Year 12 students. Over the past two weeks, they have all worked incredibly hard to complete their examinations. From speaking with so many students, it is clear that these have been a real challenge and I have been inspired by how they have all faced up to the task. The results of these tests will now be coming out, and I wish all our students the very best of luck; whatever the outcomes, we will work to support them all in the coming weeks and months.

As you are all aware, our Year 12 students are also working to complete their Personal Statements and UCAS registration, in order to commence their University applications. Mr Sutherland has spoken with students already, and we are excited to be able to offer a range of events that will support and inspire applications over the coming weeks. Next Tuesday 22nd June, students will be involved in a Personal Statement Writing Workshop, run by local Universities. More is to come, as we tie in to University Open Events and virtual sessions. Next week, Unifrog are hosting a Higher Education Week, which will include University Application Master Classes at 5 and 6pm each evening. We have added these links to the UCAS Google Classroom and urge all applicants to attend these excellent events. The recent announcement by Government of restrictions remaining in place for the remainder of term will make physical visits and events difficult. Mr Sutherland and the Sixth Form Team will work to ensure all the virtual offerings that will now come out are available and publicised to ensure our students get the maximum exposure to these experiences. Updates will be made regularly to the UCAS Google Classroom and Academic Tutors will support students accordingly on this.

Finally from me, I want to remind all students in receipt of a bursary this year to ensure that they complete their application for Year 13. Information about the bursary can be found in our Prospectus on page 8 (link), which includes eligibility criteria and funding. To apply, please could you complete the application form by the end of June so that your application can be considered.

The bursary application form link is here: https://forms.gle/XRRVDehkvkxr4gAR6

Once again, I just want to thank yourselves and the students for the superb effort and support I have witnessed from our Year 12s so far this term. As always, you can contact myself and the Sixth Form Team should you have any questions, via our e mail address basixthform@esf-schools.org.uk

Yours sincerely

Mr D Lloyd

Head of Sixth Form
