Working at Bede Academy

Welcome from the Principal

Bede Academy opened in September 2009 as the fourth school in Emmanuel Schools Foundation’s family. The £40 million state-of-the-art facility is one of the first All Age Academies (3-18 years) in Northumberland. There has been an overwhelming response from parents and students who are eager to make the most of the learning opportunities and facilities that Bede Academy has to offer. As an Academy with a distinctive Christian ethos, all students are expected to achieve their personal best in academic attainment, character development and behaviour.

Bede Academy provides the opportunity for Primary and Secondary colleagues to collaborate and develop professionally. In addition, exceptional CPD and career development opportunities are available.

School Direct

Bede Academy has from September 2012 been running a School Direct training scheme which allows high calibre graduates to experience a school-led training programme. Training is in partnership with two providers which both accredit the award of PGCE (M) alongside QTS: Newcastle University and Academy at Shotton Hall.

Applications, via UCAS (Teacher Training), are now being accepted for 2014-15. The timetable is as follows:

November 1 2014 – schools received allocation of training places from the National College.

November 21 2014 – places are advertised on the UCAS (Teacher Training) website.

Places will be available only in the subjects specified in the allocation. The application system is centralised this year – please follow the instructions.
